The player loads fast and looks amazing. Very happy with this purchase. Not 100% sold on the Xross menu layout, can be a bit counter intuitive at first, but you can pick it up quick enough.
The picture quality is ridiculous. This player really cranks through some heavy scenes. I have a 1080i and a 1080P TV in my home and it looks damn near perfect on the 1080i and better than real life on the 1080P.
The Dobly/dts audio tracks are earth shattering. I have yet to upgrade to a True HD compatible receiver but it handles the lossy 5.1 tracks beautifully.
The streaming capabilities all look and sound great (wired directly too the ethernet port). I noticed none of the Netflix streaming issues I have heard about on past Sony BDPs (HD streaming Netflix looks as good if not better than most upscaled DVDs on this system, and that is not a crack on upscaled DVDs). I really hope that we get Pandora soon on the Sony players.
“BD Remote” for iPhone works flawlessly (so far) and is a great secondary remote for when Im too lazy to reach for the remote on the coffee table.
You will need a USB flash drive if you want to access any BD Live content (no onboard memory). I have yet to dl any BD Live stuff but speaking of USB drives, streaming music/videos off of them looks/sounds great. Note about USB drives, dont buy a “U3″ enabled flash drive. I had no idea what the hell U3 was and didnt even know I purchased such an option until the player refused to recognize it. After much frustration and good ol’ “google research” I figured out my mistake.
This player is also 3D ready, which seems silly and all but its nice to feel like I have a little bit of security if I happen to find it in the budget to upgrade any time soon.
Overall this player packs a ton of features for the price tag. If you’re debating the PS3 purchase but aren’t huge on the gaming then save your money and get this player. When all is said and done with the PS3 (Remote + extra controller + 2 yr warranty) you will end up spending well over $400. I got this player (with a 4 year warranty) for $220. Worth every penny.

Bought it to use with Netflix. EVERYWHERE it seems to say that it is compatible. You do not find out that it is feature that is coming in the future until you hook it up and try it.
Sending it back tomorrow.
Love the comments from the other people that says it is everywhere. Have ANY of you even seen the box? No where to be found on it.
and here is the MAIN part about the player from amazon. Other places on the page it says it is coming (like in fine print under a picture and such), but far down the page but in 5 other places it says that it plays netflix, youtube, … NO DISCLAIMER.

Samsung’s Corporate Fascism
As a published writer/investigative journalist with a former background in the U.S. justice system, as a consumer advocate with principles, I employ the gold standard of does a thing at least attempt to recognize the human being in all people. When a corporation fails in that regard, typically this results in consumer complaints being filed while citing the State of Oregon’s Unlawful Trade Practices Act [UTPA] and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act [P.L. 93-637], United States federal law [15 U.S.C. ยง 2301] that states a product must perform as intended at the time of purchase for a reasonable period of time beyond the limited manufacturer’s warranty. In full disclosure I own many Samsung products and on Cyber-Monday purchased a 52″ HD television for a few cents under $1,400.00. However, my two experiences with the Samsung CSRs demonstrated their anti-consumer agenda with respect to the defective BD-P1600 blu-ray disc player. Acting in good faith we purchased the BD-P1600 blu-ray unit on sale with the assurances that the device was of an acceptable quality. After installing the BD-P1600 blu-ray disc player, unfortunately our experiences were egregiously disappointing and in the absence of any reasonable expectations. By comparison this contrasts in much the same manner as let’s say the mens rae [mental intent] of Candidate Obama verses the actus reus [the actions committed] of President Obama and the resulting harm [the third point of law constituting a crime] realized as a slowly overthrown U.S. Government infrastructure that was actuated in the macro during the Republican Bush-Cheney administration. Although I support our good President Obama, on some level I believe that he has been negatively influenced with concerns of the same evolved continuing criminal enterprise that assassinated JFK. Fortunately several U.S. Congressional members are presently under covert investigation by the FBI; reference Sibel D. Edmonds, former FBI translator and government whistleblower. When we installed the Samsung blu-ray disc player on our current 50″ Samsung TV, the DVD movie attempting to play caused red and blue bands of color and three distorted images on the television screen. All connections were properly installed and after visiting the Samsung website seeking a solution, I watched the instructional video four times while taking notes regarding an apparently necessary firmware update that is required by the blu-ray. This is the first time that we had ever experienced a movie playing device requiring updates like a computer program or printer – don’t get me started on the HP Color LaserJet 2605dn now under action by the Oregon Consumer Fraud Division. The firmware update did not work using a clean flash drive. With that failure I telephonically contacted the Samsung CSR and they assured me that a firmware disc would be sent within 3-5 business days. When that did not happen, I attempted three times to telephonically contact Samsung and each time that I pressed the number six option regarding blu-ray players, their system said “your selection is not recognized” and disconnected. Finally reaching a Samsung CSR and giving him my case number, I was then told, “sorry sir for your problems with the blu-ray…a firmware disc will be sent to you within 7-14 business days.” Inviting the Samsung CSR to pound salt, I informed him that the unit would be returned the following day for a full refund and gave notice that I would publish this report with Amazon and Consumer Reports. Don’t spend your hard earned consumer dollars on this lemon of a product.

If you are looking to have a “theater in a box” this seems to be a good choice. There is sufficient inputs for every need we have and the Ipod dock is great. A couple of wishes would be a better remote and less obtrusive front speakers. The netflix and cinema now features are in there infancy and movies/tv shows are limited. This is not do to this units technology. I think as the instant online viewing becomes more available this system will be perfect. All in all, we are happy.
