This is a great camera for the price, especially with the built-in compass and GPS capability. I have no complaint with the camera itself except for the microphone placement which is located where one naturally places fingers to hold the camera.

My complaint is with the lousy documentation. You really have to dig in order to learn how to use the GPS information recorded with each image or movie. I own cameras from Sony’s major competitors, Nikon and Canon, and both companies provide user manuals that are far superior.

I was considering buying this camera for a niece who will by biking through a some fantastic Colorado scenery this summer but I’m having second thoughts now because Sony has made the learning curve so steep for a digital camera novice.

It’s a shame that such a fine instrument is sold with such deplorable documentation.

This is the best camera, really easy to use. I read even a child can use it so I know it would work for me.
The color of the case is great even my husband doesn’t mind the great red color. Takes excellent pictures. I would recommend it to anyone. Great price, Of course I buy from Amazon all the time.
Had an older Coolpix before this and wanted something with a larger screen and better resolution. Got this for those two reasons only and was amazed at how the folks at Nikon have improved other aspects. This thing makes taking photos really easy. It’s pretty hard to mess things up. I like that, since you never know when you need to capture a moment.

Compared to other cameras I’ve fooled with, the interface is a breeze. I have yet to read the manual, so who knows what I am missing, but even with limited information, I’m able to get great shots. Keep in mind that I am just using this to record my life, put stuff up on a blog, take photos for auctions I have online, and other general uses. If you’re doing stuff like this though, you can’t go wrong. Your photos will look great on both the web and printouts. I only want to warn to buy this camera, if you want to use it really at the water. Even if you keep all restrictions of the manual (5′, 60min) you can get problems.

But if you want help from Sanyo you get the answer “Maybe you didn’t closed the battery door well.” But after loading the battery nearly every day it could be happen or it comes in a hair, a grain of sand, maybe a dust particle.
